We joined with the Cyberfalcons, team 3710, and watched the webcast where we heard more about FIRST, gracious professionalism, scholarship opportunities, and finally about the game that will consume our waking and sleeping moments for the next 6+ weeks.

We were thrilled to have lots of our alumni with us to help out and lend their experience and expertise.

It was an exciting moment when we finally found out the details of the challenge.

We ate our potluck lunch and discussed all sorts of game strategies over our meal. Thanks everyone for bringing such a good variety of food!

The Cyberfalcons were hard at work too.

Before simulating the game in the gym we made sure to clarify rules all together. Assists, penalties, human player limitations, robot dimensions, scoring were all important areas to consider.

Next we took over the gym and tried out some game strategies.

We also had some fun bouncing!

Next we gathered to debrief and think of ways to throw, pass, catch and pick up the ball.

Our kit arrived, and we inventoried it.

Some mentors are learning what all the parts are!

We’re meeting again tomorrow from 10-6. Hopefully everyone can look at the rules between now and then. There’s a rules quiz tomorrow!

Tomorrow we’ll also get started working on the kit assembly, installing software, and narrowing down our strategy and looking at prototyping some of our ideas.
