Our FIRST Field Trip

With so many students and mentors present, we decided to split up our group to accomplish many tasks.

Some of us toured the machine shop at McLaughlin Hall, Queen’s University.

We saw milling machines, lathes, and welding.  We also saw where the university design teams (Formula SAE and Mini Baja) meet.

Other students and mentors stayed back at KC and worked on design and prototyping using CAD–Autodesk Inventor 2010.  For some this is the first experience using CAD.  Everyone is learning a lot.

  • The chassis is now designed, but a few details are still being ironed out.
  • An arm idea is also being worked on

We’re so lucky to have great partners like Queen’s just around the corner.  Thanks Queen’s!
